Round Table Schedule, Panelists and Topics, Oct 21-24, 2024
Factual Hearings
The Foreign Interference Commission has completed its public hearings on Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Commission’s fact-finding phase.
The Stage 1 hearings focused on foreign interference that may have occurred in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, any potential impacts on the integrity of those elections, as well as the flow of information to senior decision-makers during the election periods and the weeks following, and actions taken in response. They took place from March 27 to April 12, 2024.
The Commission’s Stage 2 hearings began on September 16, 2024, and concluded on October 16, 2024. They had a broader focus on our democratic institutions and the experiences of diaspora communities.
The Commission held its first set of public hearings from January 29 to February 2, 2024. These preliminary hearings were mandated by Clause (a)(i) D of the Commission’s Terms of Reference. They focused on National Security Confidentiality (NSC).
