Schedule

The Foreign Interference Commission has completed its public hearings on Stage 1 of the Commission’s fact-finding phase.  These hearings focused on foreign interference that may have occurred in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, any potential impacts on the integrity of those elections, as well as the flow of information to senior decision-makers during the election periods and the weeks following, and actions taken in response.

The Commission will hold further public hearings, with a broader focus on our democratic institutions and the experiences of diaspora communities, starting on September 16, 2024.

The Commission held its first set of public hearings from January 29 to February 2, 2024.  These preliminary hearings were mandated by Clause (a)(i) D of the Commission’s Terms of Reference.  They focused on National Security Confidentiality (NSC).

Policy Consultation Hearings

The Foreign Interference Commission will begin its policy consultations on Monday, October 21, 2024.  The hearings will run for five days until October 25, 2024.

The policy phase will include a series of round-table discussions to assist Commissioner Hogue with the development of recommendations related to all aspects of the Commission’s mandate. These policy consultations will include participation by numerous experts in subjects relevant to the Commission's mandate. The format will enable them to discuss various topics of interest to the Commission in the context of its mandate.
